At Dark Escapes Music, we are incredibly proud to announce the release of Growing Pains, the latest EP from alt-rock trio Birddog, available now on all major streaming platforms.

Birddog’s Growing Pains is more than a collection of songs—it’s a vulnerable and gripping exploration of emotional growth, mental health, identity, and artistic evolution. From the deeply personal lyrics to the dynamic production by Sound House Musik, this project showcases the band’s remarkable development both sonically and as individuals.

“This EP has visualised a large amount of growth for all three members of the band,” vocalist and guitarist Courtney McMulland shared in a statement. “We hope that by sharing the music we created while we underwent our own Growing Pains, you can all learn a lesson, discover something new, or just listen to some good music.”

The EP features five tracks—Growing Pains, Sirens, Unusual, Awoken, and Oh Well—each rooted in personal experience. “Unusual is the most cathartic and emotional song of the project,” Courtney explains. “It came from a time where I was struggling with identity and mental illness. Writing this helped me understand myself as a person.”

Two of the tracks form a conceptual two-parter following a character known as “The Sirens Guy,” exploring themes of toxic love, avoidance, desire, and manipulation. Meanwhile, Oh Well channels the frustration of losing one’s voice—literally and creatively—during a period of illness.

This is Birddog at their most fearless. We’re honoured to be part of the journey.
