The Future According To Eve

BIO

The Future According to Eve is a captivating and enigmatic rock project led by New Zealand-born, Australian-based multi-instrumentalist and composer Michael Lobb. Founded in 1999, the project took a lengthy hiatus from 2003 to 2019 before re-emerging with renewed creative focus and emotional intensity. That return was marked by Past Lives (2021), written and recorded during pandemic lockdowns. It blends post-grunge grit with progressive nuance and features standout violin performances by Romanian artist Joylin.

Michael writes, performs, and produces the vast majority of TFATE’s material—an ever-evolving body of work rooted in themes of mental health, broken relationships, grief, and personal redemption. Drawing influence from progressive rock, post-grunge, and late ’90s alternative, The Future According to Eve combines raw, introspective songwriting with a richly layered sonic identity.

Patterns (2023), the project’s second full-length album, marked a shift toward synth-heavy, emotionally expansive alt-rock, channelling the spirit of the 1980s while pushing lyrical vulnerability to the forefront. That evolution continued with Inside Out (2025), a concept album exploring loneliness, hope, and disconnection, anchored by the emotionally potent single (If What You Say Is) True.

In 2025, The Future According to Eve will release Orphans, a six-track EP featuring previously unreleased and reimagined material from over two decades. From a cover of The Psychedelic Furs’ Love My Way to long-shelved originals like Attention Deficit and A Matter of Time, the EP offers a rare glimpse into the project’s creative archives and continued evolution.

While The Future According to Eve rarely appears on stage, the project maintains a growing online presence and fan base, driven by its immersive sound, honest lyricism, and commitment to emotional authenticity.

As a fearless and constantly evolving voice in alternative and progressive rock, The Future According to Eve continues to carve out a distinct and lasting presence in the musical landscape.
